January 2017 Online Exhibition2nd Annual Landscapes

"For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives the subjects their true value"~Claude Monet

Welcome to Fusion Art's 2nd Annual Landscapes International Online Juried Art Exhibition for the month of January 2017. For this competition artists and photographers worldwide were encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of natural scenery and the physical elements of landforms such as mountains, hills, valleys, deserts, farmland, trees, rivers, lakes, ponds, forests, wilderness, polar regions, rainforests, islands and tropical landscapes. The work could range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and all artists and photographers, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit.

We once again received a diverse collection of quality artwork from artists all around the world including the US, Canada, England, Spain, India, Ireland, Oman, France and the United Arab Emirates.

Each month Fusion Art presents awards in two categories: Traditional Art and Digital Art & Photography. The Best in Show winners are Victor Schiro for his oil on canvas, "Song Dog Ranch Arroyo" and Kyle Stanley for his digital photograph, “Setting of the Supermoon." Both Victor and Kyle are Fusion Art's Featured Artists for the month of January 2017 and, as the Best in Show winners, both artists are also invited to participate in Fusion Art's 2nd Annual Group Show in Palm Springs, CA, in November 2017.

Other award winners include Second Place winners, Tamkeen Siddique for her acrylic on wood panel, "Sun is Shining" and Kathy Brady for her digital photograph, "Mount Redoubt Volcano." Third Place awards were given to Elizabeth Burin  for her watercolor, "Mount Rainier, Melting Snow II." and Hunter Johnson for his photographic print on acrylic, "Sunrise in the Rain.”

In addition, this month, several honorable mention awards were given as special recognition due to the exceptional quality of the art received for this competition. Honorable Mention awards in the Traditional Art category were given to Carl Owen for his oil on canvas, "Grand Canyon 3" and Diane Bragdon for her watercolor, "Fall Colors." Honorable Mention awards in the Digital & Photography category were given to David Dumo for his digital photographic print, "Sunset Ridge" and Margaret King for her digital photograph "Pilot Mountain."

The remaining finalists in the exhibition all exemplify uniquely creative talents and we're once again honored to showcase their artwork on the Fusion Art website.

As always, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the competition participants. While not all the artwork that was submitted was selected for inclusion in the exhibition, this in not necessarily a reflection on any one artist's talent and/or skill.  It takes courage to offer your art up for critique by others and all the artists should be applauded for their efforts. We appreciate all of you sharing your extraordinary talent with us.

For anyone interested in purchasing any of the artwork in this exhibition, please contact the artists directly. Fusion Art does not engage in selling the artwork featured in any of its monthly online exhibitions. All purchase inquiries should be directed to the artist. You will find the artist's website and/or email information below their work.

Thank you for visiting our website and enjoy the exhibition!
