October 2016 Online Exhibition
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." ~Edgar Degas
Welcome to Fusion Art's 2nd Annual Colorful Abstractions International Online Juried Art Exhibition for the month of September 2016. For this competition artists and photographers worldwide were encouraged to share their artistic interpretation of the "Colorful Abstractions" theme by submitting their best nonobjective or nonrepresentational art. Abstraction is defined as "freedom from representational qualities in art." Abstract art is art that "does not attempt to represent external reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures." All artists and photographers, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit.
We once again received a diverse collection of quality artwork from artists all around the world including the US, Canada, Japan, China, England, Slovakia, India, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Italy and Spain.
Each month Fusion Art presents awards in two categories: Traditional Art and Digital Art & Photography. The Best in Show winners are Manish Pandey for his acrylic on canvas, "Where Color Doesn’t Matter" and Stephen Baumbach for his photograph, “Fist. Both Manish and Stephen are Fusion Art's Featured Artists for the month of October 2016 and, as the Best in Show winners, both artists are also invited to participate in Fusion Art's 2nd Annual Group Show in Palm Springs, CA, in November 2017.
Other award winners include Second Place winners, Evalynn Alu for her acrylic on canvas, "Rejection" and Harry Longstreet for his photograph, "Washington63." Third Place awards were given to Robert Hunter for his acrylic on canvas, "Summer Soul" and Robert Baliello for his digital photograph, "Orbit Series 4.”
In addition, this month, several honorable mention awards were given as special recognition due to the exceptional quality of the art received for this competition. Honorable Mention awards in the Traditional Art category were given to Mariah Branine for her Mixed media, "Show Me Where the Light Is" and Lisa Daniels for her acrylic on canvas, "Come Together." Honorable Mention awards in the Digital & Photography category were given to Marco Pinter for his digital on aluminum, "Ephemeral #3" and Dustin Brown for his photograph "Oil & Water 01."
The remaining finalists in the exhibition all exemplify uniquely creative talents and we're once again honored to showcase their artwork on the Fusion Art website.
As always, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the competition participants. While not all the artwork that was submitted was selected for inclusion in the exhibition, this in not necessarily a reflection on any one artist's talent and/or skill. It takes courage to put your art out there for critique by others and all the artists should be applauded for their efforts. We appreciate all of you sharing your extraordinary talent with us.
For anyone interested in purchasing any of the artwork in this exhibition, please contact the artists directly. Fusion Art does not engage in selling the artwork featured in any of its monthly online exhibitions. All purchase inquiries should be directed to the artist. You will find the artist's website and/or email information below their work.
Thank you for visiting our website and enjoy the exhibition!
